About
Kyrus
Newman.
A New York City photographer, videographer, and creative director producing high-impact visual storytelling for arts, culture, brands, institutions, and community-driven organizations.

Harlem, NYC · 2024
The full story
Kyrus came up documenting Harlem — its galleries, its block parties, its quietly historic moments — and learned early that the best work comes from being trusted in the room before the camera comes out.
That instinct now anchors a practice that moves between museum walls and street-level activations: members' previews at the Whitney, opening nights at the Harlem Fine Arts Show, public art commissions with Times Square Alliance, design week with NYCxDESIGN. Every engagement starts with the same question — what is actually happening here? — and ends with images and films that earn a second look.
Beyond client work, Kyrus directs and edits documentary shorts focused on community-led cultural production in New York. The throughline across all of it is a refusal to flatten culture into content. The work is patient. The work is observant. The work is built to last beyond the news cycle that produced it.
